Jens Elvekjaer has established himself as one of the leading Scandinavian pianists. Denmark’s first and only Steinway Artist, he has performed as soloist with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, and the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra. In 2012 he will be soloist with the Copenhagen Philharmonic, the Danish National Symphony and the Tivoli Symphony Orchestra.
Jens made his U.S. recital début on Washington D.C.’s distinguished Dumbarton Oaks series in 2009, and returned to D.C. to play a solo recital at the National Gallery later that year. His numerous solo appearances in Europe and Asia include the Vienna Festwochen, Amsterdam’s Beurs van Berlage, the Giresta Piano Festival in Uppsala, Sweden; the Royal Library in Copenhagen, the Usedom Music Festival in Germany, the Roskilde Schubertiade the Scandinavian Piano Festival of Danish Radio, and Tokyo’s Musashino Hall. He has been invited to such prestigious festivals such as the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades, France; the Bergen Festival, Norway; the Umeå Festival, Sweden; and the Kuhmo and Korsholm Chamber Music Festivals in Finland.
Jens was born in Copenhagen and studied with K. H. Kämmerling in Salzburg, Leonid Brumberg in Vienna, Ferenc Radosc in Budapest, and the Alban Berg Quartett in Cologne. His début solo CD of works by Ravel, Debussy, and Franck was nominated for two Danish Music Awards. His latest release is a CD of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Triple Concerto (with Trio con Brio Copenhagen).

Jens Elvekjær har i de senere år etableret sig som en af Skandinaviens førende pianister. Han optræder over hele verden som medlem af klavertrioen ”Trio con Brio Copenhagen” og også ofte som solist. Solistiske oprædender inkluderer bl.a. National Gallery (Washington, DC); Tivoli Concert Hall (Copenhagen), Tokyo’s Musashino Hall, Amsterdam’s Beurs van Berlage, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek (Wien), Casals Festival, Prades (France), Bergen og Trondheim Festivals (Norway), Umeå Kammermusik Festival (Sweden) samt Korsholm and Kuhmo Festivals (Finland). Med klavertrioen ”Trio con Brio Copenhagen” har Jens Elvekjær desuden optrådt i andre førende koncertsale som Carnegie Hall New York, National Gallery Washington DC, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall London og Frankfurt Alte Oper. I 2005 blev Jens Elvekjær, som den første danske pianist nogensinde, udnævnt til Steinway Artist.
Jens Elvekjær har optrådt som klaversolist med alle de store danske orkestre, herunder DR SymfoniOrkestret og Copenhagen Phil., og han har endvidere spillet med bl.a. Leipziger Kammerorchester samt ved flere Tysklandsturnéer med Aalborg Symfoniorkester og med Folkwang Kammerorchester Essen.

Jens Elvekjær har modtaget talrige priser både som solist og kammermusiker, bl.a. ARD Wettbewerb München, den amerikanske Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award, samt førstepriser i den østrigske Brahms Wettbewerb, Premio Vittorio Gui Firenze, Trondheim Chamber Music Competition og DRs Kammermusikkonkurrence.

Elvekjær er blevet transmitteret på BBC, National Public Radio (USA), Danish Radio, Korean Broadcasting Systems, Austrian Radio, Hessischer Rundfunk, ARD, Deutschland Radio Berlin, NRK, SR og RAI.
Elvekjær har udgivet en række CD’er, bl.a. fire anmelderroste udgivelser med ”Trio con Brio Copenhagen”, en solo-CD med musik af Debussy, Ravel og Franck samt en indspilning af Nielsens kammermusik.
Elvekjær er uddannet i Århus, Salzburg, Wien, Köln og Budapest. Jens Elvekjær underviser på DKDM og giver masterclasses på bl.a. Yale University, på Rice University i Houston, på University of Cincinnati, Trondheim Kammermusikfestival og på Kuhmo Festival i Finland.
Jens Elvekjær er sammen med Soo-Kyung Hong g Soo-Jin Hong initiativtager og kunstnerisk leder af Copenhagen Chamber Music Festival.
