Biography

The Danish Horn Trio has been playing a vast number of concerts since the members came together in 1997. It offers an unusual combination of instruments violin, french horn and piano - which sounds quite fantastic and unites three different timbres in the most brilliant way. The most famous composition for these particular instruments is by Johannes Brahms, and his trio has ever since he wrote it, inspired many composers to write for the same instruments. Among these composers are György Ligeti, Hans Abrahamsen and Poul Ruders - works which are naturally on the repertoire of The Danish Horn Trio.

Most often The Danish Horn Trio is asked to play the two famous trios by Brahms and Ligeti, but one of the aims of the ensemble is, to open the ears of more people for this special universe of sound. In 2007, the ensemble ordered a horn trio from Danish composer Søren Nils Eichberg, and this trio had its World premiere at the Bergen Festivals in May 2007.
